1 teen dead, 2 teens injured after crash on I-70 in Blue Springs

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — One teenager is dead and two others are injured after a crash on Interstate 70 in Blue Springs Saturday night.

The crash happened around 8:45 p.m. Saturday on I-70 near NW Woods Chapel Road, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

Troopers said a 17-year-old boy was driving a Toyota Tacoma when he "cut in" on a man driving a Lexus. Paul McLaughlin, 70, was driving the Lexus, and hit the front passenger side of the Toyota.

The Toyota then began to flip and all passengers were ejected. A 15-year-old boy was ejected and pronounced dead at the scene, according to MSHP.

The 17-year-old driver and a 19-year-old man were also ejected. Both of them have serious injuries.

None of the teenagers were wearing seatbelts. The 19-year-old was identified as Kevin Pacheco. The other teens were not named.

McLaughlin was not injured in the crash. He was wearing a seatbelt.
