DALLAS: The Meadows Nursing Center’s Auxiliary volunteers are seeking donations for various booths at the annual Market on the Pond fundraiser that benefits residents. The event will be held 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, June 20, on the center’s grounds, 4 East Center Hill Road. Rain date is Saturday, June 27.
Items requested include odds and ends (no clothing or broken items), soft and hardcover books (no magazines), handcrafted items, new but never used items, kitchen items and plants.
Donations can be brought to the lobby at the center from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, June 6, and Saturday, June 13. An auxiliary volunteer will be available to help. PITTSTON: The Greater Pittston La Leche League will meet at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, June 9, in the Community Room at the Laflin Borough Building, Laflin Road, Laflin. The group meets the second Tuesday of each month.
Information for pregnant and breastfeeding mothers and encouragement and support will be shared at the informal discussion. A lending library offering titles on childbirth, nutrition and breastfeeding will be available at the meeting. Children, including nursing babies, are always welcome.
WILKES-BARRE: Commonwealth Health Wilkes-Barre General Hospital is holding its Summer Junior Volunteer Program from June 22 through Aug. 28. The program is open to 13- to 18-year-old teens and participants may volunteer up to six hours in one day each week. Schedules may be tailored to fit the volunteer’s needs.
Typical tasks that junior volunteers perform include greeting visitors, delivering mail and flowers to patients, selling items from the hospitality cart, assisting the nursing staff with non-professional duties and manning the information desk.
