A cold front is coming to Tampa Bay. Here’s what to expect for Thanksgiving.

Kitchens may be heating up for Thanksgiving, but temperatures outside are expected to cool down.

Showers are likely to pass through parts of Tampa Bay on Wednesday and will leave behind cooler, drier air just in time for Thanksgiving festivities on Thursday, according to Paul Close, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service’s Tampa Bay office.

Tuesday and Wednesday will remain warm, with temperatures in the mid- to low 80s during the day. However, by Wednesday, Tampa Bay’s rain chances tick up slightly. A line of storms ahead of a cold front could bring scattered showers to the area before 1 p.m., the weather service said.

Whether you’re having a turkey dinner outside or want to open a window while cooking, Thursday’s weather is shaping up to be slightly cooler than normal.

For those running the annual Tampa Bay Turkey Trot in Clearwater or cheering on runners, a jacket may be in order. Close said the day will start out in the upper 50s with a mix of sunshine and cloud cover and warm to the lower 70s and upper 60s across the area.

“It’s pretty seasonable for now, this time of year,” Close said.

The cooler air will stick around for a few days, Close said. On Friday, when shoppers venture out to packed malls and superstores, rain chances rise again. In Tampa, there is a 30% chance of rain in the afternoon, when the high will be around 70 degrees.

Close said Friday could see some showers and maybe a thunderstorm or two. Forecasters don’t expect any severe weather.

If you’re planning to hit up some more shops or outdoor markets, like Shopapalooza in St. Petersburg’s Vinoy Park , for Small Business Saturday, forecasters are expecting a lovely day. By Saturday, the rain will clear out and temperatures will be in the mid-70s with some cloud cover.

Forecasters expect the mercury to creep up through the weekend. Sunday will be partly cloudy and daytime temperatures will reach the upper 70s.
