A Paws for Pets: Black is beautiful … beautiful is black
Yesterday was Halloween. In past years people would fear for their black cats if they were to get out during the days leading up to Halloween. Black cats were believed to be evil creatures with piercing gold eyes that many believed that by looking into their gold eyes they could easily steal your soul.
Black cats have fed the imagination of folklore and intrigue for hundreds of years. No more so than on each year on October the 31st There would be no Halloween without the aloof and disdainful superior black cats looking at us with mere tolerance.
As in many religions All Souls Day is really a holy day to reflect on the souls of our departed loved ones who have passed before us. There are many superstitions attached to Halloween that have turned a holy day into a holiday of ghastly & grim macabre atmosphere, with ghosts and goblins riding through the evening sky.
I like to think that black cats are just one of God's beautiful creations, for those that have loved and cherished a black cat with a rich flowing coat also knows that one never owns a cat, especially a regal black beauty. We are their caretakers and they reward us with their calm demeanor and their piercing gold eyes.
We at York Adopt a Pet, at any given time, have a dozen or more of every size, shape, age and personality traits of black cats. Visit our website wwwyorkadoptapet.com and see the black beauties that are awaiting for their forever home.
