A secret ‘Trump Train’ is coming to Dallas this weekend

A 'Trump Train' is coming to Dallas this weekend and was apparently meant to be a secret, because the campaign event's invite asks it be shared with "patriots only."

The Dallas County Republican Party is organizing a vehicle convoy in support of former president and current candidate Donald Trump on Sept. 22 at 2 p.m. However, the group doesn't seem to want the general public to know.

The event announcement asks readers to share the route only "with those you know to be patriots supporting our candidate," allegedly for safety reasons. It's unclear how the flier reached Dallas Voice , a LGBTQ+ media outlet, which posted the flier on Sept. 19.

The Dallas County Republican Party did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

The Trump Train will meet at 9700 Edgemere Road in the North Dallas neighborhood of Preston Hollow to embark on a circular route. It first heads south into the Highland Park neighborhood, then jumps onto the Dallas North Tollway to return to Edgemere Road.

Participants are encouraged to be safe, have fun and be aware of traffic laws, according to the flier. Drivers will attempt to keep the train intact despite "lots of lights."

The document claims convoy members are allowed to drive 40 miles per hour on the Dallas North Tollway, although the road has a 65 miles per hour speed limit, according to the North Texas Tollway Authority .

It also directs motorists to "make sure flashers are on," which could land them in legal trouble depending on the kind of light. Under the Texas Transportation Code, "a red, white, or blue beacon, flashing, or alternating light" is not allowed on motor vehicles if it's not a regular car part like a taillight or a turn signal. Additionally, the use of hazard lights are illegal while driving if the vehicle is not stationary.

A political intimidation trial is currently underway regarding a different Trump Train from 2020, which boxed in a Biden-Harris campaign bus on its way from San Antonio to Austin. The city of San Marcos settled a separate case filed by three bus passengers against the police for not responding to the scene, agreeing to pay $175,000 and mandate political violence training for law enforcement.
