In a back-and-forth affair, New York was able to come out on top in front of a raucous crowd at Yankee Stadium.

It was an uncharacteristically quiet night at the plate for Aaron Judge, as he struck out three times in four at-bats. Judge was able to draw a walk and record a go-ahead run in the fifth inning, though.

The game featured five lead changes, the most in a playoff game in MLB history (h/t ESPN's Jeff Passan ).

With the score tied 5-5 in the seventh inning, Yankees outfielder Alex Verdugo delivered the decisive hit with a two-out RBI single.

Both teams went scoreless the rest of the game, with Luke Weaver recording a four-out save.

It was far from a perfect performance from New York's lineup, as the Yankees finished just 2-for-13 with runners in scoring position.

Still, fans were amazed by the performance from the Bronx Bombers.

Royals star shortstop Bobby Witt Jr. struggled in his postseason debut, failing to record a hit in five plate appearances.
