Abercromie & Fitch Store Coming To Arthur's Steakhouse Site In Hoboken, Broker Says The clothing brand Abercromie & Fitch is headed to the former site of a popular steakhouse in Hoboken, said a real estate broker.

HOBOKEN, NJ — The clothing brand Abercromie & Fitch is apparently coming to a space in downtown Hoboken that for decades was anchored by a popular steak restaurant.

The chain is set to move to xxx Washington Street, seven or eight blocks from the Hoboken Train Terminal, according to a LinkedIn post by a Jersey City real estate broker.

"It was great working with Hilary Sievers and her team from JLL to bring Abercrombie & Fitch Co. to Washington Street in Hoboken!" wrote Bobby Antonicello Jr. over the weekend. "A&F will occupy the entire ground floor of the newly constructed Hoboken House on the corner of 3rd and Washington."

The post was shared Tuesday on a social media account called Hoboken Gossip.

The owners of the longtime steakhouse originally promised it would return someday when it closed in early 2022. But they sold off all of its fixtures later that year.

Aberchromie & Fitch clothing was so popular in the late 1990s that it even rated a mention in the LFO song summergirls: "I like girls who wear Aberchromie & Fitch..."

But not everyone is on board with the change.

'Shameful'

"Shameful what is going to happen to once hallowed ground," wrote one commenter on Hoboken Gossip. "Would have loved to seen a small biz/restaurant take that space."

"Just what we need another chain," remarked another.

Two commenters indicated that the lure of shopping there would affect their finances.

A local real estate agent and former councilman, Tony Soares, had a different view, adding context to the situation.

"Arthurs is gone [and] the owners sold the building," he wrote. "They weren't pushed out. A local resident bought the building, spent millions redeveloping it, restoring the facade and creating more housing above. I'm glad it will remain retail at street level. There are currently only 1 other

store in downtown Hoboken (Madewell ) for a guy/ person to buy a pair of reasonably priced jeans, sweaters, boxer shorts or some t-shirts in a pinch."
