After Paris Olympics Fame, Tara Davis-Woodhall Reveals New Goals for 2025: “Nothing Really”
B.Wilson58 min ago
The 2024 Paris Olympics catapulted a lot of athletes into the limelight. But among the athletes, there are two names that still haven't managed to escape the spotlight. It is none other than the Olympian-Paralympian duo of Tara Davis-WoodhallHunter Woodhall. The two hit the zenith of virality when Tara made her 7.10-meter jump, and instead of assimilating the moment all by herself, she ran into Hunter's arms. Thus, began the fame. Although the world can't get enough of her, it looks like she is ready to leave the fame behind! As Tara herself puts it , "It's still so crazy to see a picture of me with a gold medal around my neck." It's time to get used to it, considering her journey has only just begun. While the world might not need a break from her, it looks like she needs one from the world. And so, Tara has decided to chalk up an interesting plan for 2025. So, what exactly is this 2025 plan? Tara Davis-Woohall has no intention of carrying the pressures she felt this year ahead. In her own words, "There's nothing really hanging over my head anymore of like, 'I need to be this, I need to have this.' 2025 should just be a year of growing and rebuilding what we did this year." So why the "we"? Well, it was not just Tara who won. Soon after the Olympics, Tara and Hunter arrived in Paris yet again. This time for the Paralympics. So, did they recreate their moment of virality? Of course, they did! Hunter Woodhall went on to win the 400-meter T62 event at the 2024 Paralympics. So, "rebuilding" might just be the right approach for the duo. But why even take a break from the glory that they strived to earn? As Tara put it, she's "embracing the feeling of being the newly reigning Olympic champion," and that's enough. After the wild year that the duo had, a break is only well-deserved. And perhaps much-needed, too! After all, she is taking on something new. Amidst the fame, Tara Davis-Woodhall decides to be an assistant coach If stepping back from fame was too small a task, Tara Davis-Woodhall has decided to give herself yet another challenge. She is stepping into the assistant coaching position at Kansas State University. While this is a huge personal commitment and decision, it is also an equally professional one. She is not moving to Kansas alone! She is being joined by two of the most important in her life. Her coach, Travis Geopfert, and her husband, Hunter Woodhall, join her. So why is her coach moving? Well, turns out Travis is actually stepping into a new role, much like Tara. He is joining Kansas State as the director of track and field and cross country. Travis is, after all, the man who trained both Hunter and Tara to glory. And that is precisely why Hunter is joining them on this new journey. However, Travis had some rather interesting things to say about Tara becoming a coach. Travis Geopfert went on to say, "I've loved coaching this young woman for the last three years, and to bring her elite-level experience to Manhattan is absolutely invaluable. She knows what it takes to be great, and she also fully understands the challenges of what life is like as both a student-athlete and as a professional athlete." Now, that is big praise coming from a man who has coached 15 Olympians over 22 years! While coaching might be new to Tara, the athlete-coach dynamics and training are nothing new. Tara Davis-Woodhall is moving into an era of growth both personally and professionally. And as Travis put it, "Her mentorship of these young student-athletes is going to expedite their careers to an elite level in dramatic fashion." Looks like while 2025, as per the Tara projections, is meant to be about "rebuilding," the coaching role might be a curveball that disrupts it!
