Air pollution precaution issued for Hillsborough County

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — An air pollution precaution was issued Tuesday for Hillsborough County, effective immediately.

The Environmental Protection Commission of Hillsborough County issued the precaution due to elevated levels of Ozone, which may reach unhealthy levels for sensitive groups.

"Unusually sensitive individuals, such as the elderly, children, and individuals with respiratory ailments may consider reducing prolonged or heavy exertion outdoors this afternoon and this evening," the notice reads.

Officials said they would notify the public if conditions worsen.

The precaution is in effect until midnight.
