KEARNEY - Aiyanna Frizane, a senior at Kearney High School, has been recognized as one of Nebraska's 2024-25 Believers & Achievers.

The award came from the Nebraska School Activities Association in partnership with Currency. It celebrates exemplary student leaders with exceptional commitment to academic success, community involvement, and personal achievement.

Aiyanna has been involved in One-Act and Speech teams, band (head drum major), choir, thespians (current president), fall play, spring musical, Tri-M and KHS Ambassadors.

KHS students have been recognized by the Believers and Achievers program in three of the last four years. The program acknowledges only 48 Nebraska high school seniors each year.

"We are incredibly proud of Aiyanna's dedication and the positive impact she has made at Kearney High School," Michelle Bombeck, KHS One-Act and Speech Coach, said.

"Her leadership and commitment to excellence make her a true role model for our students. She continues to push herself and those around her to be better, no matter what she does," Bombeck said.

In April, the NSAA will honor these 48 students at a scholarship banquet. Eight of them will receive a $500 scholarship from Currency.

HEALTH CARE HEROES - Three local people were among 83 Nebraska hospital employees who received the prestigious Caring Kind Award from the Nebraska Hospital Association Oct. 18.

They were recognized at a luncheon as part of the NHA Annual Convention in La Vista. For 45 years, The Caring Kind award has recognized Nebraska's most caring and compassionate health care heroes.
