Montoursville, Pa. — Albert (Sonny) Engdahl, 99, of Montoursville died Friday, Oct. 11, 2024 at The Gatehouse at Divine Providence.

Born Dec. 11, 1924 in Harrisburg, he was a son of Albert G. and Sara E. (Hampton) Engdahl.

Albert married Mary E. Andrews on April 11, 1945 and shared 59 years of marriage prior to her passing in 2008.

Albert graduated from Williamsport High School in 1942. He served his country honorably, serving in the U.S. Army. He was previously employed for 45 years as a Head Mechanic for CA Reed. He loved music, and being a musician. He enjoyed singing and writing songs. Albert was a longtime member of Montoursville VFW.

The more we learn about life, the more we appreciate the truths and values you have taught us. We appreciate even more the wonderful example you have been to your children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and everyone who knew you. Your gift of music will carry on through generations!

Albert is survived by sons, Eric N. (Gail) Engdahl, Lars G. (Deb) Engdahl, both of Montoursville; daughter, Amy S. (Tom) Eck, of Trout Run.

In addition to his parents and his wife, Mary E. Engdahl, Albert was preceded in death by brothers, Roland H., Jon E. Engdahl; and sisters, Selma L. Andrews and Katherine E. Bassett.

Graveside Service will be held 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 18 at Muncy Cemetery, 204 East Penn Street, Muncy, with Pastor Eric H. Hartshaw officiating.

The family will provide the flowers and suggest memorial contributions to the SPCA, 2805 Reach Rd., Williamsport, PA 17701.

Arrangements have been entrusted to McCarty Thomas Funeral Home, Montoursville.
