FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) - Authorities responded to a critical crash in northeast Fort Wayne Sunday night.

The Fort Wayne Police Department (FWPD) says officers responded to reports of a crash at the intersection of N. Clinton Street and Parnell Avenue, near Northcrest Shopping Center, just before 8 p.m. Sunday.

According to FWPD officials, when authorities arrived at the scene, they found that a car was driving southbound on N. Clinton Street when it failed to yield while turning left onto Parnell Avenue, colliding with a truck that was heading north. Police say the collision caused the truck to lose control and hit a pole.

Police say the driver of the truck was taken to a local hospital with critical injuries.

It is believed that alcohol was a factor in the crash, according to FWPD. The department says one person is in custody at this time, however, charges are still pending.
