Alma M. Shehwen

Alma M Shehwen of Ashley passed away Oct. 20 at home.
Born April 13, 1919, in Wilkes-Barre, she was the daughter of the late Anthony J and Mary Moses Shehwen. She was a member of St. Anthony’s Maronite Church and its Altar and Rosary Society. She attended GAR Memorial High School and was employed by Lazarus Department Store until its closing. She retired from the Kidde Shop.
She is survived by a brother, Edward J Shehwen, Wilkes-Barre; nieces and nephew, Lynda Kempke, Cincinnati, Ohio; Judy (Michael) Rokitko, Ashley, and Frank Gramazio, Wilkes-Barre; great-nieces and great-nephews, Gina Rokitko, Amanda Kempke, Michael Rokitko and Quentin Black; and many other nieces and nephews.
Alma was preceded in death by brothers, Joseph and William Shehwen, and sisters, Louise Corey, Anna Bolus and Doris Gramazio.
The family would like to thank Dr. Joseph Radzwilka, VNA, Home Sweet Home and Area Agency on Aging for their years of dedicated service.
A special thank you to Donna and Lisa, who always went above and beyond, and most especially to Sharon, her guardian angel, for the outstanding care and compassion she gave Alma.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday from St. Anthony’s Maronite Church, Wilkes-Barre. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Hanover Township. There will be no calling hours.
Memorial contributions, if so desired, may be made in Alma’s memory to St. Anthony’s Maronite Church or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by Desiderio’s Funeral Home Inc., Mountain Top and Wilkes-Barre.
