Ambulance slides off I-25 while transporting child to Colorado Springs hospital

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) - Emergency responders found themselves in need of help of their own after crashing off the interstate while on the way to the hospital Thursday morning.

Police tell 11 News an ambulance was transporting a child and parent when they slid off the roadway near the Garden of the Gods exit and plowed through a fence separating I-25 from Sinton Road. The ambulance came to a stop on Sinton.

Though a scary moment for the people in the ambulance, no one was injured in the crash. 11 News is told another ambulance responded to the scene to take the family the rest of the way to the hospital.

The cause of the crash is under investigation, but police say it was likely due to the poor conditions on the road.
