RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA) - The American Revolution Experience is making a stop at Rapid City City Hall until Sept. 25 and focuses on more average people.

"I think it's very important that we understand that in any battle, in any war, it's not just the generals and the people at the top that are important, it's the everyday people who carry out the instructions, who give the support to win in any engagement," said Regent of the Black Hills Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Margie Rosario.

Rosario explained there's always more to history than what's taught in schools, and the American Revolution Experience is bringing people's stories to the forefront who historically aren't included in the narrative. The exhibit featured women, Native Americans, and African Americans who fought and aided in the fight for liberty.

One of these people was Han Yerry Tewahangarahken, a Native American who fought at Fort Schuyler and Valley Forge, according to the exhibit he fought to represent Oneida's interests during the American Revolution.
