Andover man arrested following voyeurism investigation
ANDOVER — Troopers from Troop-K Colchester responded to a residence on Center Street in Andover following a report of a male party peering through windows.
Upon arrival, Troopers met with the female victim, who was receiving treatment from EMS personnel for a hand laceration.
According to Troopers, the victim reported she had been bathing herself and her 1-year-old child. She explained her shower had a window, and while bathing, she observed a male outside the window watching them.
The man was later identified as Joshua Gonsalves, 34, of Andover.
When Gonsalves' presence startled her, the victim explained she slapped the window with an open palm, which shattered the glass and cut her hand.
The victim reported this caused Gonsalves to flee on foot. She also recognized Gonsalves as a neighbor and provided Troopers with a detailed description of his clothing at the time of the incident. This included the presence of lint on the jacket's exterior and a fur-lined hood.
Based upon this information, the investigating Trooper determined they were familiar with the accused from previous incidents of the same nature.
Troopers attempted to contact Gonsalves at his home, but a female party met them at the door. The female spoke with Troopers and explained Gonsalves was not currently at the residence but could be reached by phone.
Gonsalves then returned to the residence by car a short time later and was immediately detailed while Troopers continued investigating.
Once Gonsalves was detained, Troopers observed a jacket in plain view on the front passenger seat of the vehicle. According to Troopers, the jacket matched the description provided by the victim.
At approximately 9:34 p.m., Gonsalves was arrested and charged with criminal trespass in the third degree, disorderly conduct and voyeurism.
Gonsalves was held on a $10,000 bond.
