Andrew Thomas Kept His Word

Sports Andrew Thomas Kept His Word

In Week 3, the New York Giants dominated in the trenches, sacking Cleveland Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson eight times and out-pacing the Browns on the ground.

However, the Giants ' best offensive lineman – left tackle Andrew Thomas – didn't partake in the fun. Facing off against Browns edge rusher Myles Garrett, Thomas had one of the worst outings in his career, especially since his 2021 breakout.

After the game, Thomas took accountability for his performance.

"Yeah, it was bittersweet," Thomas said. "We got the win, and the other four guys played great. I'm disappointed in my play and I take that wholeheartedly and I'm doing everything I can. It's a short week but trying to make the corrections so that I can be ready for Thursday."

Thomas kept his word.

On Thursday, New York got little relief in the form of the Dallas Cowboys and superstar edge rusher Micah Parsons, the farthest thing from a get-right game.

And yet, the star delivered.

Parsons registered just three pressures on the night, and Thomas allowed one on 44 pass protection reps. It was his third game this season with one or fewer pressures allowed, and Jones responded in kind. He played fairly well, and though he missed out on the explosive plays that could have resulted in a better outcome than a 20-15 loss.

It was a promising performance from Thomas, who staved off criticism about his ability to compete against top pass rushers. He also rejoined the rest of the offensive line that has been playing well and exceeding expectations in the early going.

Thomas will look to stack quality contests in Week 6 against the Seattle Seahawks.
