ANN ARBOR, MI - An Ann Arbor restaurant has closed abruptly after seven years.

Haymaker Public House, 203 E. Washington St., announced Friday evening it would be closing its doors, effective immediately.

The decision was "not made lightly," restaurant staff said on social media around 6 p.m. Oct. 4.

"From trivia nights to the unbridled enthusiasm and chaos of game days, we've shared some incredible moments within these four walls," staff said in their announcement .

The restaurant, known for its elevated bar food, first opened as Curtain Call in late 2016, but was renamed the Haymaker in June 2017, according to previous reporting .

The bar was also known for its welcoming environment to all sports fans – including those donned in green and white.

Staff did not clarify what led to the closure.

"Haymaker was always about bringing people together, and it has been our privilege to serve this wonderful community over the years," staff said in its statement. "Thank you for being part of our story."
