Ann Dunn

Walnut Creek resident Ann Louise (Hart) Dunn passed away peacefully on August 17, 2024 with family by her side. Ann was born and raised in Columbus, Ohio and attended Ohio State University where she majored in Fine Arts and minored in English. She was a member of Rho Chapter of Alpha Phi sorority. Post her college degree Ann was employed by Battelle Institute in Columbus as a technical publications editor until 1958 when she moved to Los Angeles and worked for TRW Corporation as a senior publications editor. Among the projects she worked on at TRW were several early satellites designed by TRW and launched by the United States. In 1960 Ann married insurance claims executive Bruce A. Dunn in Santa Ana, CA. After living for 8 years in Southern California they moved north, settling in Moraga. In 1980 they made their home in Orinda where they lived for 40 years. Singing was a passion of Ann's. She was an active member at Lafayette Orinda Presbyterian Church where she sang in the choir for many years. Additionally she sang with the Orinda Women's Chorale where she was a past-president, as well as Cantare Con Vivo mixed chorus. Ann's lifelong interest in art included membership in a number of Bay Area museums and the Culture Vultures, an informal group of art aficionados. Ann and Bruce enjoyed travel; several of their trips overseas were with the Oakland Museum Art Guild. Ann will be remembered for her competitive spirit, spending time with friends, enjoying neighborhood wine tasting club events, watching sports on TV, discussing current events, skiing, sailing, and playing tennis. Ann is preceded in death by husband Bruce Dunn. She is survived by son Tom (Laurie) Dunn and granddaughters Kate and Lindsay. The family will be remembering Ann privately.
