Mrs. Anne Veronica (Monka) Lange of Madison Street in the North End section
of Wilkes-Barre went to her eternal reward Thursday morning at Mercy Hospital,
Wilkes-Barre, holding her husband’s hand and with her family present.
Mrs. Lange was born in Wilkes-Barre, daughter of the late Paul A. and
Veronica A. (Petro) Monka. She was a member of Sacred Heart-Saint John’s
Parish Community of the North End, Wilkes-Barre, and a member of the parish
Altar and Rosary and Holy Name societies. She was a graduate of the James M.
Coughlin High School, Class of 1948, and until her retirement had been
employed by the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Plains
Township, for 15 years. She was previously employed by the Social Security
Administration in Wilkes-Barre for 19 years. She was a member of the National
Association of Retired Federal Employees, Chapter 342.
She and her husband, Robert W., celebrated their 38th wedding anniversary
on Oct. 23, 2003.
Mrs. Lange was predeceased by sisters, Irene Monka Horos, Julia Petzarek,
Marie France; and brothers, Paul, Joseph and John.
Surviving, besides her husband, at home, are sons and daughters-in-law,
William R.D. and Danee, Valley Forge; and Robert P. and Christine M. of
Moosic; granddaughters, Emma and Olivia, both of Moosic; a brother, William,
Tucson, Ariz.; sisters, Kathryn Storz, Hatboro; and Agnes Marino, Reading; and
several nieces and nephews; her special caregiver, Marie Gould and family pet,
Mollie.
Funeral services for Mrs. Lange will be Monday at 9:30 a.m. from the John
V. Morris Funeral Home, 625 N. Main St., Wilkes-Barre, followed by a
concelebrated funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in Sacred Heart of Jesus Roman Catholic
Church, 601 N. Main St., Wilkes-Barre, with Rev. James R. Nash and Rev. John
Reardon CSC, officiating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery, Dorchester
Drive, Dallas.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
