AP Top 25: Where is Ohio State football after losing The Game to Michigan? College rankings
E.Anderson3 months ago
COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State football’s loss to Michigan on Saturday dropped the Buckeyes out of the AP Top 25 poll’s top five for the first time in over two months. Ohio State fell from No. 2 to No. 6 after the 30-24 loss — its third straight in the rivalry game. It was previously ranked sixth prior to a Sept. 23 victory at Notre Dame. Since then, the Buckeyes had been a top-four team. Georgie remained atop the poll with 52 No. 1 votes. Michigan, No. 3 last week with no No. 1 votes, moved up to OSU’s former No. 2 spot and picked up 10 votes for the top spot. Washington moved up to No. 3, followed by Florida State and Oregon. All five of those teams will play in conference championship games this weekend. Ohio State can only watch and hope for an unlikely chain of events that pulls them back into the College Football Playoff picture. Updated CFP rankings are announced Tuesday night. Penn State moved up one spot to No. 10, and Notre Dame moved up to No. 16. The Buckeyes attempted to add a huge road win at Michigan to those previous notable victories, but came up one drive short. Iowa, which Michigan will play in the Big Ten championship game, moved up two spots to No. 18.
