APD identifies woman killed in Sunday hit-and-run crash

AUSTIN (KXAN) — The Austin Police Department identified a woman who died Sunday evening following a hit-and-run crash between a vehicle and a pedestrian.

Police said the crash occurred near the intersection of East Stassney Lane and Teri Road in southeast Austin.

APD said the pedestrian, identified as 39-year-old Kyla Walker, died at the scene.

According to police, the vehicle involved did not stop and left the scene.

The incident is being investigated as Austin's 76th fatal crash of 2024, according to APD.

Anyone with information was asked to contact APD's Vehicular Homicide unit at 512-974-8111. Tips can also be submitted anonymously through the Capital Area Crime Stoppers Program by visiting austincrimestoppers.org or calling 512-472-8477.

APD said a reward of up to $1,000 may be available for any information that leads to an arrest.
