Are banks, the post office, UPS and schools open on Election Day in Wisconsin?

With Election Day finally here, Wisconsin voters will be taking time to head to the polls to cast their ballot.

Election Day is not a federal holiday , but some states do observe it as a holiday. The State of Wisconsin does not recognize Election Day as a state holiday, and therefore state employees do not get the day off.

While the day is not a federal holiday, many people are left wondering if banks, post offices and shipping services will be open on Election Day. Here's what we know.

Polls will be open statewide from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Election Day, Nov. 5.

Are banks open on Election Day?

Branches of Bank of America, PNC, Capital One, Wells Fargo and other banks will be open their regular hours on Tuesday, Nov. 5. Other banking services, such as ATMs and online banking, should also be available as usual on Election Day.

Is the post office open on Election Day? Will mail be delivered?

Yes, post offices will be open and mail will be delivered on Tuesday, as Election Day is not a federal holiday.

Are shipping services, like UPS and FedEx, open on Election Day?

Yes, UPS and FedEx pickup and delivery services will be available on Election Day, and their stores will be open as well.

Are Milwaukee Public Schools open on Election Day?

Milwaukee Public Schools students will not have classes Tuesday during Election Day. The district said with many MPS schools serving as polling locations, students will take the day off. Staff have records day or professional development.

All schools are closed, not just the schools that are voting locations.

"It has been a longstanding practice of the district that presidential elections days are not student attendance days," the district said.

Are big retailers such as Target and Walmart open on Election Day?

Most major retail stores, such as Target and Walmart, remain open on Election Day.
