MOREHOUSE PARISH (KNOE) - The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF) cited an Arkansas man accused of committing contest fraud in Morehouse Parish. The LDWF said the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission (AGFC) told them Andrew Riels, 27, of Crossett, Ark., harvested a buck in Arkansas and entered it into a big buck contest in Louisiana. According to the LDWF, the investigation found Riels illegally harvested a 15-point buck during illegal hours on Sept. 8 near Crossett before entering the buck into the Simmons Sporting Goods Big Buck Contest in Bastrop later the same day. The AGCF cited Riels on Oct. 30 for illegal hunting activity. The LDWF cited Riels on Nov. 1 for hunting contest fraud and violating interstate commerce regulations. Hunting contest fraud brings up to a $3,000 fine and one year in jail. Violating interstate commerce regulations carries a $900 - $950 fine and up to 120 days in jail.
