Arlington National Cemetery to host 71st Annual National Veterans Day Observance
ARLINGTON COUNTY, Va. ( DC News Now ) — While honoring the men and women who serve and continue to serve the country, the Arlington National Cemetery announced that it is hosting its 71st annual National Veterans Day Observance.
The event will take place on Veterans Day, Nov. 11, to recognize those in the U.S. armed forces during war and peacetime. Starting at 11 a.m., the ceremony will take place at the Memorial Amphitheater .
National Harbor to honor Veterans Day with series of events
According to the Arlington National Cemetery website, a series of event will take place including a performance from the United States Marine Band and the U.S. Navy Band Sea Chanters at 10:30 a.m., and a wreath-laying at the Tomb of the Unknown Solider.
Officials said the attendance for this year's wreath laying will be limited to official participants.
In addition, the national oberservance will come to life in the Memorial Amphitheater with a parade of colors by veterans' organizations.
National Veterans Day Parade returns to the District
Free parking will be available at the Welcome Center from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Organizers said walking to and from the amphitheater is not allowed and attendees can use the tram from the Welcome Center to the Amphitheater.
The tram will run between 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. or until the capacity for the event is reached. After the ceremony, the tram will resume operations and begin taking guests to the Welcome Center until 2 p.m., according to the website.

Family pass holders who are visiting their loved ones can enter the cemetery through the main entrance at Memorial Avenue or through the Service Complex, on Columbia Pike.
Officials said families can expect delays entering and exiting the cemetery along with movement freezes during the National Veterans Day Observance.
