Armed woman taken into custody after Lancaster barricade

A woman armed with a knife who barricaded herself in Lancaster was taken into custody Tuesday after a more than nine-hour standoff.

Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department deputies, along with Special Enforcement Bureau personnel, responded to the 1300 block of West Meadow View Lane, between 10th Street West and 15th Street West, around 7:30 p.m. Monday regarding an armed barricaded suspect, according to the Sheriff's Information Bureau.

It was unclear what motivated the woman to arm and barricade herself.

The suspect was taken into custody around 4:55 a.m Tuesday, the sheriff's department reported.

Surrounding residents were ordered to evacuate for safety reasons.
