Armie Hammer Is Trying to 'Redeem Himself' With New Podcast
Armie Hammer is gearing up to make his Hollywood comeback.
"He's trying to redeem himself," a source exclusively reveals in the latest issue of Us Weekly, adding that Hammer's current financial situation is playing a major role in his return to the public eye.
In October, Hammer, 38, announced that he was launching his "The Armie HammerTime Podcast."
"So, I've got a little bit of news; I think some of you are going to love this, and some of you are going to f—ing hate it," the actor said in an Instagram video . "But basically, I'm starting a podcast, and the original idea of the podcast was sort of the concept that over the course of a day every single person you interact with knows at least one thing that you don't. So, teach me what that one thing is."
Hammer added at the time he wanted to expand his horizons with his new venture while giving listeners an inside look at his life in Los Angeles.
"I want to have long-form, interesting conversations with people who have tools or skills or have acquired wisdom or even just know random s— that I don't know [and] I want to learn," he said.
Before joining the podcast scene, Hammer was plagued with backlash from a series of allegations , which included sexual abuse and cannibalism. While Hammer has vehemently denied the claims and never faced any charges , his career and personal life suffered a major setback.
In 2020, Hammer and ex-wife Elizabeth Chambers split after 10 years of marriage. The pair, who share children Harper and Ford, finalized their divorce in 2023.
As for Hammer's career, his last role was in the 2022 film Death on the Nile. However, the tide appears to be shifting in Hammer's favor. Deadline reported in late October that Hammer would return to the big screen in the upcoming western film Frontier Crucible, which also stars Thomas Jane.
As Hammer begins to reenter the public domain, the insider exclusively tells Us that Hammer will have to be cautious with his rhetoric.
"It's not a free-for-all," the source warns. "He has to be careful if he wants to get back into the limelight."
In Hammer's first podcast episode, which was released on October 28, the Call Me By Your Name actor poked fun at the allegations made against him while chatting with comedian Tom Arnold.
"I'm not going to lie, I kind of like the cannibal stuff now. I'm just like, 'Hey, I'm a cannibal,'" he quipped. "What makes more noise? 'Armie Hammer is a cannibal' or 'Armie Hammer might not be a cannibal.'"
