BEATRICE - Arnold L. Buhr, 91, of Beatrice, died Wednesday, September 18, 2024 at the Good Samaritan Society of Beatrice. He was born on April 10, 1933, near Adams and graduated from Filley High School in 1951. Arnold served in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1955 during the Korean War. On October 23, 1956 he married Lois Boevink at the Pella Reformed Church of rural Adams. For many years he farmed north of Filley before moving into Beatrice in 1996. Arnold was trained as a Parish Minister Associate. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church of rural Pickrell. He was also a member of the Virginia American Legion for many years.

Survivors include his wife, Lois of Beatrice; sons, Keith Buhr (fiancé, Kathy Bishop) of Beatrice and Arlan (Karen) Buhr of Omaha; daughters, Jeanette (Leon) Dorn of Firth, Carol (Eugene) Oltman of Cortland, and Nancy Buhr of Omaha; grandchildren, Nathan (Tonia) Dorn, Stephanie (Darryl) Kewin, Heather (Lee) Barr, Tara (Mike) Higgins, Preston (Kaity) Oltman, Amanda (Shad) Morgan, Tyler Buhr, Andrew (Hanna) Baehr, Nolan (Miranda) Baehr, and Garret Rasmussen; great-grandchildren, John, Edward, Brecken, and Kasey Dorn, Brooklyn, Logan, and Landon Barr, Zachary, Sadie, Jocelyn, and Kyra Higgins, Anna, Autum, Adelynn, and Aiden Morgan, Luca and Ari Baehr, and Maya, Eden and Remi Baehr; step-grandson, Ron (Danielle) Siwirski; step-great-grandchildren, Roman, Rylee, and Landon Siwirski; brother, Ervin Buhr; sisters, Genevieve Lenners and Erma (Larry) Schlake; sister-in-law, Karen Buhr; brother-in-law, Ray (Ginger) Boevink; nieces and nephews; exchange student who became family, Mariko (Atsushi) Yoshimi and their children, Yuhki, Wakana, and Haruka. He was preceded in death by his daughters-in-law, Sherrie, Christine, and Kathy Buhr; great-grandchildren, Oliver Baehr, and twins Robert and Otis Kewin; parents, Albert and Janna (Jurgens) Buhr; brother, Leonard Buhr; sisters, Marie (William) Schuster and Edna (Richard) Arntt; brothers-in-law, John Lieneman and Willard Lenners; sisters-in-laws, Geraldine Buhr, Marie Buhr, Patricia Boevink, Gladys (Robert) Revis, and Norma (Wilfred) DeVries; parents-in-law, Garret and Lucy Boevink.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Monday, September 23, 2024 at Zion Lutheran Church of rural Pickrell with Pastor Jerry Gilbreath officiating. Burial will be at the Zion Lutheran Cemetery of rural Pickrell with military rites conducted by Post #367 of the Virginia American Legion. A family prayer service will be held at 10:15 A.M. on Monday at the church. The body will lie in state at the Fox Funeral Home on Sunday, September 22, 2024, from noon until 8:00 P.M. The family will greet relatives and friends on Sunday from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
