Arrests made in fatal Bronx baseball bat assault: NYPD

THE BRONX, N.Y. (PIX11) — Two men were arrested in connection to an assault involving a metal baseball bat in the Bronx on Sept. 12, according to the NYPD.

The assault happened in front of 202 East Fordham Road at around 7:39 p.m.

Police say two men approached the victim, 56-year-old Leslie Sanchez, and hit him in the back of his head multiple times with the bat.

The two suspects were apprehended the following day, police said. Romel Jarrett, 37, and Terrence Downes, 44, face attempted murder and assault charges.

Sanchez succumbed to his injuries on Sept. 14.
