Arvest Foundation donates $5,000 to Lafayette House

JOPLIN, Mo. — Another donation made Thursday by the Arvest Foundation.

Five thousand dollars to Lafayette House in Joplin — the domestic violence and substance use disorder shelter. The money will be used to help replace the heating unit on its substance use disorder floor. The intent is to give clients a warm, cozy place to be during the winter months while they're in recovery.

"We know that the people that we touch in the community, it's pretty much arms length away from us, so we want to make sure that we can affect all of our families and to have an organization such as Arvest to come in, recognize the need, and want to be there and want to help, that's tremendous," said Susan Hickam, Lafayette House Executive Director.

"It is really critical for us to be able to engage with community partners that do so much in giving back, and when we're able to present funds that help them serve their mission, it's an incredibly good feeling," said Rebecca Dunham, Arvest Bank Sales Manager.

Hickam told us the order was placed today – meaning the unit's installation will happen sooner rather than later.
