GRAND RAPIDS, MI (WTVO/WQRF) —It didn't take long for Andreas Athanasiou to get into the flow with the Rockford IceHogs. He scored his first two goals in his first game with the team Wednesday. They came though, in a 5-2 loss to the Grand Rapids, Griffins.

Athanasiou scored his first goal on a breakaway only 28 seconds into the game. He was assigned to the IceHogs only a day prior by the Blackhawks after he cleared waivers. The IceHogs outshot the Griffins 30-21, but they failed to convert any of their four power-play chances. Drew Commesso allowed all five Griffins' goals. He had 16 saves.

The IceHogs have now lost four straight games dropping their record to 3-7. Their next game will be Friday night at home against the Manitoba Moose.

Kim Ye-ji, who won a silver medal in the women's 10-meter air pistol event at the Paris Olympics on Sept. 28, is taking a break from professional shooting. Speaking to AFP on Sunday, Kim's agent, Yang Yong-sik, said the Olympian will "temporarily suspend her sports career... to have some time together with her young daughter." Yang clarified that the 32-year-old South Korean shooter is not retiring from the sport, as she just wants to "make up for the time she couldn't spend with her family."
