The Martinsville football team picked up its first win of the season on September 13, a 26-6 victory over Chatham. Three of the Bulldogs four touchdowns on the night came courtesy of sophomore running back Caden Martin.

With the big night, Martin was named Martinsville Bulletin Athlete of the Week.

The Bulldogs seemed to have officially found their goal-line threat in Martin, who scored on runs of 2, 3, and 6 yards. He finished the night with a game-high 73 yards rushing on 17 carries.

Martin scored twice in the first quarter to help Martinsville build an early 14-0 lead. He scored his final touchdown early in the third to put the Bulldogs up, 26-0.

"He's young and he's a stud," Martinsville coach Joe Fielder said on his young back. "He gets after it. He does a heck of a job running the ball. He runs behind his pads, he knows where to hit the hole, and he gets after it. He's hard to bring down, and he's done what we asked him to do."

Martin has led the Bulldogs in rushing yards in each of the team's first three games. He ran for 49 yards on seven carries in Week 2, and had 48 yards rushing on 11 carries in Week 1.
