EARTH CITY – A local AT&T office is relocating to downtown St. Louis.

Company spokesperson Kyle Loomis confirmed that the telecommunications company is leaving its leased office space in Earth City for company offices at 1010 Pine Street.

"We are consolidating leased workspace into our company-owned location in downtown St. Louis, about 20 miles away," Loomis said in a statement. "We are always looking to streamline and optimize our business to improve efficiency and help our employees connect and collaborate better."

He said this move does not include any layoffs, though it is unclear how many workers report to Earth City. AT&T is based in Dallas, Texas.

Downtown St. Louis has struggled to fill vacant office space since the COVID-19 pandemic , though this summer saw more office space being leased than vacated for the first time in a year.

AT&T's downtown office tower at 1010 Pine is next door to the former AT&T Tower at 944 Pine Street, which was recently sold to a Boston firm.
