Bexar County inmate briefly escapes courthouse Shortly after receiving two life sentences for attempted capital murder, Antoine Marcel Foster, 31, escaped custody at the Bexar County Courthouse on Halloween, according to San Antonio Express-News . His own attorney what surprised to find out he had bolted from Bexar County sheriff's deputies as they attempted to load him into a van because Foster had been in a wheelchair for the duration of the four-day trial.

Foster didn't get far, and his escape only lasted about 40 minutes before officers reportedly fired at him as he took cover behind a parked car. He was taken to a hospital to be treated for injuries. According to Express-News' report, officers found a large knife and loaded magazines in Foster's pockets.

Foster's two life sentences were for firing at San Antonio police officers as they approached his apartment. The officers were responding to a domestic violence call, which Foster's girlfriend called in during an argument with Foster that had escalated. Foster now has an additional misdemeanor charge for his brief courthouse escape.

Texas' largest motorcycle rally returns to Galveston Tens of thousands of motorcyclists are gathering on Galveston Island this weekend for the annual Lone Star Rally . This four-day affair is a biker and motorcycle enthusiast haven with various competitions, a parade on Saturday, a car show and plenty of entertainment. AT&T is offering $10K for help catching copper bandits Some thieves have been hitting critical AT&T infrastructure, stealing copper cables, in the Austin area. AT&T is offering a $10,000 reward to anyone who can provide them "specific and detailed information that leads to arrest and conviction for copper cable thefts or the attempted sale or purchase of stolen AT&T copper cable in Austin."

If you have any information that could help, contact the Austin Police Department or AT&T. Tipsters can remain anonymous, according to the news release. For information about actively occurring thefts, call 911. For tips and leads about previous thefts, contact APD Detective Rocky Reeves at (512) 974-5308 or Tipsters are also recommended to call AT&T Global Security and Investigations at (800) 807-4205.

The AT&T reward is valid for leads received by Nov. 1, 2025.

The Hill Country may be getting some new state parks The Texas Park and Wildlife Commission will be discussing five pending land acquisitions during its November meeting next week, according to the executive session agenda . The land in consideration would be expand Enchanted Rock State Natural Area, Government Canyon State Natural Area and Caddo Lake Wildlife Management Area, San Antonio Express-News reported . New funding from the $1 billion Centennial Parks Conservation Fund would be used for the purchases, which would also allow the state to potentially create new state parks in Burnet and Uvalde Counties.

New H-E-B opens in northwest Houston The highly anticipated new H-E-B store has opened in the Bridgeland planned community. Located in the Houston suburb of Cypress, the store spans 128,000 square feet. The new store has not only the usual H-E-B staples like its bakery with store-made fresh tortillas, beer and wine department and more; it also has a True Texas BBQ with a drive-through. If customers are in more of a seafood mood than barbecue, the store also has a Bayou Boil.
