YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) — Reports said an attempt early Tuesday to set a vacant South Side building on fire failed.

Police were called just after midnight to Glenwood and West Princeton avenues where a neighbor said they were putting their dog outside when they spotted someone at a building on the corner pouring liquid around the building before getting into a SUV and driving away.

Reports said a "distinct odor" was in the air around the building. The fire department was called, reports said.

Police searched the area for the SUV but could not find it.
