( WJET/WFXP ) — JET 24/FOX 66 Meteorologist Tom Atkins will host a training class and winter weather presentation, including a preview of the upcoming winter weather outlook in a WINTER SKYWARN training!

The class is set to take place on Saturday, Oct. 29, starting at 2 p.m. in the Blasco Library's Hirt Auditorium — located at 160 Blasco St on Erie's Bayfront.

Of course, you don't have to sign up to be a winter storm spotter or snow measurer for the National Weather Service in Cleveland, but you can. Or you can just enjoy the presentation and a lot of information on how our winter weather develops, is forecasted and measured across our local area. There will be information on safety as well as a table from Erie County Emergency Management.

The event is free and open to anyone in the public. All ages are invited and it usually runs around 2 hours, including a break in the middle and plenty of time for questions.
