Aussie cricket star Mitch Marsh gets some incredible family news just days before he takes on India

Cricket star Mitch Marsh and wife Greta have welcomed the arrival of their first child just a few days out from Australia 's first Test against India in the couple's home city of Perth .

The baby girl was born on Sunday night, but the couple is yet to confirm a name.

Marsh was present at training on Monday morning and Australia prepares to face off with India on Friday in the first of five Tests of the Border-Gavaskar series.

'Everyone was very eager for him, very excited,' said Travis Head.

'It was a good feeling this morning coming here and seeing Mitch, and he's going well.

'Everyone was over the moon for him, and he was the same old Mitch. It's an exciting week, and he'll get what he needs to do.'

Head knows what his teammate is going through after welcoming his second child with wife Jessica earlier this month.

Marsh, who's been married since 2023, thanked his wife for her unwavering support after winning the Allan Border Medal in February.

'I often spoke to my wife about...,' Marsh said before pausing as he choked up on stage at the Crown Palladium in Melbourne.

'I just wanted to get one more crack at it, and its [Test recall] been amazing.

'Grets is an amazing human, I said in my wedding vows eight months ago she gave me the perspective in life I needed... and our life is a lot of fun.

'If I get a duck, or get a hundred, she's always the same.

'To Ronny [McDonald] and Patty [Cummins], you believed in me and I can't thank you enough,' he added.

'I'm a bit fat at times and I love a beer, but you see the best in me always. 'You have changed my life, this [award] is a huge honour.'

Not bad a for a bloke who felt a few years ago he was 'done and dusted' as an international cricketer.

During the 2019 Ashes series, Marsh famously declared, 'Most of Australia hate me.'

It was a blunt reference to the opinion many fans shared that while talented, the man they call 'Bison' didn't seize his long list of opportunities when representing his nation early in his career.

Marsh was handed a surprise recall in the eyes of many during the Ashes series last year at the expense of Cameron Green - and has made the most of the opportunity, cementing himself in Australia's sides in all three formats.
