Award-winning Wexford drama group bringing three one-act plays to National Opera House

Haiku by Katherine Snodgrass is "a gentle, beautiful play" about family and the things we do for love. Directed by Susan Somers it features Colette Fay, Aoife Finnegan and Mairéad Ryan and centres around Billie and her hopes to convince her ageing mother to come and live with her. However, her complicated relationship with sister Louise, who waivers between extremities on the autism spectrum, gets in the way.

The second of the plays is A Sergeant and a Gentleman and is written by Wexford man, Declan Dempsey and directed by Jacqui Whelan. Mystery and intrigue surrounds this faithful and "often hilarious" encounter between Seamus (Andy Lehane) and Ellen (Carmel Furlong), a stranger who turns up to the funeral of Seamus' grandfather.

The final play is Melody by Deirdre Kinahan, "a heart warming tale" which follows the chance meeting of bachelor William Kane and widow Kathleen Hill at a park concert and develops into a cosy friendship and a possible relationship. However the stars are not always aligned in their favour. Melody is directed by Aine Gannon and features Paul Tobin and Roisin Dennigan.

All three plays will be performed each night. To book visit nationaloperahouse.ie
