Baby loss memorial event organised for families in Bradford
A.Williams46 min ago
A memorial event is to be held for families affected by the loss of a baby or child in Bradford. Organised by Bradford Teaching Hospitals, it will allow a quiet space for participants to "remember and reflect". As in previous years, the event will be based around a children's story which deals with bereavement, with this year's being Badger's Parting Gifts. Shared Memories will take place at Bradford Royal Infirmary's Listening for Life Centre, at 11:00 GMT on 30 November. Reverend Stephen Lees from the hospital trust said: "We know that the journey of grief can be slow and painful, and that the experience of loss can be wide – from early miscarriage to the death of a baby or a child. "But it can be helpful and supportive to gather and to remember with others who have shared a similar heartache." Activities at the 45-minute service include a story, making tokens, listening to music and talking to others affected by loss. There will also be refreshments, funded by Bradford Hospitals Charity. The trust said parents who attended previous events had found them "very touching and thoughtful". It added having the opportunity to be around other parents going through a similar experience had been "really important". Families who lost children or babies in the past two years have been sent invitations to attend but anyone who would benefit is also welcome, the trust said.
