PORTLAND, Ore. ( KOIN ) – As the days turn colder, you may be thinking of new ways to stay warm through the fall and winter. Fortunately, the Bagby Hot Springs will be around to heat things up.

The natural hot springs and campground in Mt. Hood National Forest are set to reopen on Saturday, Sept. 21 following a closure that began in early August due to the Sandstone Fire. The grounds are expected to be open at 8 a.m.

The U.S. Forest Service said the Sandstone Fire spread to 1.5 miles north of the Bagby Trailhead, but the Bagby Hot Springs was not affected by the fire. As of Thursday, the fire had already been 75% contained.

"There will still be a fire closure area around Sandstone Fire, but Forest Road 70 will reopen on Saturday morning," forest service officials said. "Please be aware that there may still be fire or road crews on the travel routes and drive cautiously."
