Bank of America Belfast Support Services celebrates 25 years of inclusive employment
BELFAST – In August Bank of America's Belfast Support Services marked its 25th anniversary, celebrating a quarter of a century providing employment opportunities for individuals with disabilities and making a lasting impact on the community. The event, held at Bank of America's financial center in Belfast, brought together more than 35 teammates to honor the team's contributions and reflect on its growth since its founding in 1999.
The celebration included a catered lunch, a visit from senior leadership, special recognition, and a bingo game with prizes. Attendees received custom 25th anniversary T-shirts and cupcakes. During the event, teammates who have been with Support Services since its inception — known as the "Founders" — were honored for their 25 years of service, including four individuals and seven others who also began in 1999. These teammates have played a pivotal role in the evolution of Support Services and have made lasting contributions throughout their careers at Bank of America.
Reflecting on the team's journey, Brian Bragg, Support Services manager, said, "This 25-year celebration is a testament to the dedication, resilience, and hard work of our teammates. Watching them grow personally and professionally—achieving significant milestones like homeownership and gaining greater independence — has been one of the most rewarding parts of my time with this team."
Brian King, Bank of America Maine president, echoed this sentiment, stating, "The Belfast Support Services team demonstrates the power of inclusive employment. The work done here over the past 25 years has enriched the lives of our teammates and strengthened our community. It's a reminder of the value that a diverse and empowered workforce brings to Bank of America and beyond."
As National Disability Employment Awareness Month is celebrated this October, more than 35 teammates at Belfast Support Services continue to play critical roles in key operations such as loan fulfillment, data entry, and inventory management. Their contributions highlight how diversity in abilities enhances operational efficiency and strengthens the organization. After 25 years of service, many teammates are now eligible for Bank of America's Sabbatical Program, which offers a paid five-week leave, giving them an opportunity to recharge and reflect on their career journeys. This program, along with competitive wages and full benefits, reflects Bank of America's ongoing commitment to the personal growth and well-being of its teammates.
