DUNCAN, Okla. (KSWO) - The Stephens County Humane Society Hosted their Annual Bark in the Park Event Saturday to get pets and their owners out and about and potentially find homes for shelter pets.

Everything from a costume and barking contest to a weenie dog race took place in Duncan's Fuqua Park today.

Event Chair for the Stephens County Humane Society Patti Whitaker says this was the largest turn out she's seen, and it's all thanks to the community.

"We are having the best turnout ever for bark in the park," Whitaker said. "We try to bring home thousands of dogs and cats who come through our doors and we couldn't do it without the generous support of this community."

Whitaker added that they just try to bring the people and their pets together with bark in the park being the only pet, family friendly festival in Stephens county.
