Battle of two 3-1 teams: Halls to face Carter

HALLS, Tenn. (WATE) — Carter and Halls have only lost once in their opening four games this season as they prepare to face each other in this week's Rivalry Thursday game.

"We're really young and we're really talented. It's just right now the thing we have to do each and every day is get better and take those opportunities because when you're young football team, you gotta find a way to grow," said Halls head coach Brent Hughes.

"It's an opportunity for our kids to be able to display their talents and how much we've grown as an organization on Thursday in front of our whole area that watches those games, so it's special. It's a great opportunity and we get to bring our brand Carter High School to everybody. And so that's important for our kids, it's important for our school and our community. So we're really excited," said Carter head coach Todd Helton.

Halls picked up their first loss against Gibbs in Week 2 , while Carter saw t heir first loss in Week 1 against Sevier County .

Ahead of the start of the season, Helton told 6 News that he hoped to lead Carter past the first round of the playoffs for the first time since 2011.
