BBNBA: Devin Booker outduels Tyler Herro in Suns victory
Devin Booker (22 PTS, 9 AST) and Tyler Herro (28 PTS, 6 AST) battled it out in Phoenix Wednesday night, with Booker's Suns coming out on top 115-112.
Herro is averaging 22.7 PPG through Miami's first seven games of the season, which would be a career-high for the 2019 Second-Team All-SEC selection. Where he is succeeding, back-to-back NBA All-Star Bam Adebayo is struggling a bit.
After averaging at least 19 PPG over the past three seasons, Adebayo is averaging just 14.9 PPG and nine rebounds over Miami's first seven games. He contributed 12 points (5-21 FG) and 12 rebounds in Wednesday night's loss. The Heat have opened the season 3-4, good for seventh in the Eastern Conference.
Thanks to his 22 points, Devin Booker now holds the Suns record for the most 20 (415), 30 (188), 40 (33), 50 (eight), 60 (two), and 70-point (one) games. The Phoenix Suns have their best start to a season (7-1) through 8 games since 2009-10, the same year they made it to the Western Conference Finals.
Karl-Anthony Towns shines in Knicks loss to HawksKarl-Anthony Towns continued his early season domination Wednesday night in New York's 121-116 loss to Trae Young and the Atlanta Hawks.
Towns scored 34 points and grabbed 16 rebounds, securing his six double-double in seven games this season. He joins former Cat Julius Randle (2023/24) and Basketball Hall of Fame Patrick Ewing (1992/93) as the last Knicks players with at least six double-doubles within the team's first seven games.
KAT nailed five of his nine three-point attempts and totaled three blocks. Although he's contributed a double-double in six consecutive games, the Knicks are just 3-3 in that span.
De'Aaron Fox leads Kings to win over RaptorsDe'Aaron Fox was presented with a trophy for leading the NBA in steals last season (150) prior to Sacramento's 122-107 win over the Toronto Raptors Wednesday night.
Fox totaled one steal and 21 points (5-17 FG) in the win. Malik Monk was the lone double-digit scorer off the Sacramento bench, compiling 13 points (4-13 FG) and grabbing six rebounds. Trey Lyles played 11 minutes, but failed to record a single point.
The Sacramento Kings are 5-3, good for sixth in the Western Conference.
