Have a night, Tyrese Maxey !

The former Kentucky Wildcats had a stellar performance on Monday night for Philadelphia. Maxey finished the game leading the 76ers, scoring 31 points in a 138-94 victory over the Los Angeles Lakers.

By the end of the first half, 20 of his 31 points had already been scored as Maxey continues to make a case for himself to be a first-time All-Star this season. He also chipped in eight assists with zero turnovers while connecting on five of his 12 three-point attempts in the win. Maxey has scored at least 16 points in every game played this season. Philly improved to a 12-5 record on the season as a result.

Maxey’s impressive night was aided by his MVP teammate, Joel Embiid, who came away with a triple-double by the end of the third quarter: 30 points, 11 rebounds, and 11 assists. Although Embiid sat out the entire fourth quarter, his game had a large impact on the play of another former ‘Cat, Anthony Davis , who is the main big man for the Lakers.

Davis still finished the matchup as the second-leading scorer for Los Angeles with 17 points. He also tallied a double-double by coming away with 11 boards. Davis led the team in minutes played on Monday night but the game was swatted away by Maxey’s performance and literally a huge swat by Embiid in the second quarter of the game.

This latest dub for the Sixers marks their seventh-straight win against the Lakers. The 44-point loss was the largest of LeBron James’ Hall of Fame career.

Portland took on the Indiana Pacers in Indy on Monday night as the two battled as part of the In-Season Tournament. Shaedon Sharpe , a somewhat previous Kentucky Wildcat, started for the Trail Blazers and played 35 minutes for his team in the 114-110 victory over the Pacers.

Sharpe finished the night with 11 points, five rebounds, and six assists in the dub. Although he did not have the most points, his rebounds and assists played a huge role in getting his teammates the numbers necessary to carry the Blazers over Indy.

On the other side of the court, Isaiah Jackson played some minutes for the Pacers. Coming off the bench, Jackson tallied 10 minutes on the hardwood only coming away with two points on one of two shots taken. Even though the points were not the greatest, Jackson did pull down five rebounds and one block on the night.

Other BBNBA Notes:
  • Due to a hamstring injury, Jamal Murray was out once again in the Denver Nuggets’ 113-104 win on Monday against the L.A. Clippers. This game marked the star point guard’s 11th straight game out of the team’s lineup.
