Belvidere North looks for another playoff win in a rematch with Wauconda
BELVIDERE, Ill. (WTVO/WQRF) — Count Belvidere North among the local football teams eager to take the field again this weekend for more playoff action. The Blue Thunder will host Wauconda Saturday afternoon at one o'clock in a Class 6A IHSA playoff game. The Blue Thunder are sitting at 9-1. The nine wins ties last year's total for the most in school history, so another win on Saturday sets a new record with ten. In their opening playoff game last weekend, the Blue Thunder showed their big-play ability. Running back Ben Bucher led the way rushing for four long touchdowns. Head coach Jeff Beck and the guys say that it's a fun atmosphere surrounding this team right now. "I just think excitement," said Beck. "Any time you can keep your season alive and keep playing football, keep being around your teammates and your coaches, and like I said, just keep making memories with your team." "We're all so excited," said senior lineman Jack Hasty. "We're just pumped up and ready for the second round, just moving on. I think it's all about staying consistent, you know, true to what we've done all season and just not changing anything up." Belvidere North and Wauconda met last year in the second round of the playoffs. The Blue Thunder won that game 28-21. We'll have more on this matchup Friday night on "Overtime" live following the Iowa at UCLA football game on FOX 39. That game starts at 8 p.m. "Overtime" should start at about 11:30 p.m.
