READING — Hunting down a District Three Class 3A playoff spot, Berks Catholic left no doubt on Friday night with a 48-14 Lancaster-Lebanon League Section Five victory over Hamburg at Forino Sports Complex.

Berks Catholic quarterback Zach Suski completed all four of his passes for 137 yards and three touchdowns as the Saints won their third straight.

The Hawks (3-3 league, 5-4) were playing without all-time leading passer Tyler Shuey, who was dealing with a lower back injury sustained last week.

The Saints (4-2, 5-4) scored touchdowns on their first five possessions. Three were passes by Suski, who found Scott Duffy for a 32-yard score and Gavin Welker for 38- and 28-yard connections. Bryce Gumby and Owen Schalk also found the end zone on runs of 21 yards and 5 yards, respectively.

Meanwhile, the Saints forced Hamburg backup quarterback Isaak Stewart into three first-half turnovers: fumbles recoveries by Johnny Sauppee and Faith Zudie and an interception by Schalk.

The Saints scored once more on their first drive of the second half when Aidan Curley punched it in from a yard out.

Hamburg scored twice, on a 18-yard connection from Stewart to Ty Werley in the second quarter and on a 6-yard run by Misael Oviedo in the fourth quarter.
