What is Black Friday?
The sale’s name can be traced back to mid-70s America, when the streets of Philadelphia turned black with traffic fumes as shoppers shopped the huge sales that retailers laid on the day after Thanksgiving. As a nation of bargain-lovers, it didn’t take much for the concept to catch on in the UK. Helpfully timed just before the festive rush gets underway, Black Friday sales are now a major fixture in the shopping calendar.
Does Amazon go on sale for Black Friday?
Amazon’s been a busy bunny this year, throwing a spring event and an October one in addition to its flagship Amazon Prime Day sale in July. As such, the internet giant has one more ace to play for 2023, and Black Friday is it.
How long are Amazon's Black Friday deals on for?
This just in! Amazon is pulling back the curtain on its Black Friday deals early this year, with price reductions landing from November 17, a full week before the official date. Amazon's Black Friday offers will continue to run until midnight on November 27.
What kind of Amazon deals can we expect?
There will be sweeping savings across almost all of Amazon's categories, with the juiciest offers on fragrances and electric toothbrushes (up to 60 per cent off) air fryers to mattresses. Think also Amazon devices like Echoes, Fire TV sticks and Ring Video Doorbells, with savings of up to 57 per cent here.
In tech, the retail giant is promising up to 40 per cent reductions on leading smartphones, up to 30 per cent off the cost of big and small appliances and 40 per cent off Nintendo, Sony, Microsoft video games. The company is famous for being a one-stop shop, so if you've got your heart set on something in particular, the chances are Amazon will have a deal on it.
The savings go beyond the physical at Amazon - the Black Friday deals roll out across its fleet of services too. Bag free trials of Amazon Music, get discount rates on Audible subscriptions and find deals galore on all things Kindle. Great news for movie and TV buffs: from November 26 - 29, all customers can get up to 50 per cent off on titles like No Hard Feelings, Transformers: Rise of The Beasts, and all seasons of Succession.
