Best parks, open spaces to view nearby firework displays around Colorado Springs
Colorado Springs will be lit up with vibrant colors Thursday night as several firework displays take place around the city.
Most of the displays are either ticketed events or not open to the public, but there are several spots around town where residents are likely to get a glimpse of firework displays happening nearby.
Here are the five best spots to view fireworks around the city:
Note: There are no firework shows happening on-site of these locations. All parks listed below close at 10 p.m ., plan accordingly.
America the Beautiful Park
Closest firework display: Switchbacks FC
Located just blocks away from Weidner Field, America the Beautiful will allow for a great view of the Switchbacks firework display. Plus, before the fireworks begin, the family can have a day of fun at this city park, which includes a playground and fountain.
Quail Lake Park
Closest firework display: The Country Club at Cheyenne Mountain Resort
At Quail Lake, you can spend the day paddleboarding then end the evening with an Independence Day celebration. This park is located east of Cheyenne Mountain Resort, which is set to have a firework display for those in the surrounding neighborhood to enjoy.
Memorial Park (no fireworks on site)
Closest firework displays: Switchbacks FC and Valley-Hi Golf Course
For decades, Memorial Park was home to the city's largest firework display but today it makes for the perfect spot to try and get a glimpse of two different displays. This city park is located just minutes away from two different professional displays: Switchbacks and Valley-Hi Golf Course.
Sandstone Park
Closest firework display: Rocky Mountain Vibes at UCHealth Park
Grab a lawn chair and get ready for one of the city's biggest firework displays. Nestled between Barnes and Peterson Roads, Sandstone Park is just blocks away from the Rocky Mountain Vibes baseball field where fireworks will mark the end of the Vibes vs. Ogden Raptors game Thursday.
