Best Times To Vote In McHenry Co., Early Voting Tallies: County Clerk
MCHENRY COUNTY, IL — As we head into Election Day, more than 100,000 residents have voted early or by mail in McHenry County.
Joe Tirio, county clerk for McHenry County, said that as of late Monday night, 78,093 people have voted early and 27,154 ballots have been cast by mail in McHenry County. A majority of those votes came in since Friday morning, increasing the early vote and vote-by-mail total in McHenry County from 75,345 votes Friday morning to 100,247 late Monday night, Tirio told Patch in recent days.
Voting behaviors have changed since the last presidential election, Tirio said.
"(The 2020 presidential election) really created a sea change in terms of voter behavior for a number of reasons, COVID obviously being one of them," he said Monday night. "Having said that, I think people have come to appreciate the convenience of voting early and by mail. I think voters are also realizing that something so important should not be put off to the last moment."
Meanwhile, election officials are still expecting a busy days at the polls Tuesday. Tirio suggests those hoping to avoid lines to head to their polling place between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.
Polls will be open through 7 p.m. across Illinois.

The hottest race on the ballot is the presidential election, pitting Vice President Kamala Harris against former President Donald J. Trump. There are also several local referendums and statewide propositions to be considered this election as well as congressional and senate races voters will be asked to make their selections on.
You can check your registration status on the State Board of Elections website. While the deadlines have passed to vote by mail and online, you can register to vote on Election Day by appearing at a designated location for registration and voting.
You must also be:
A United States citizen
Be a resident of the precinct for 30 days
Be 18 years of age or older
You must provide two forms of ID, one of which must show the address that they are registering from. The acceptable forms of ID include, but are not limited to:
Driver's license
Social Security card
Utility bill
Employee or student ID card
Lease or contract for a residence
Credit card
Civic, union or professional association membership card
FOID card
